Timothy Royston-Parry, of Rosetta Gardening, which carried out the works, and Kim Stapley, who instructed them, appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court earlier this month. They pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing. The Isle of Wight Council mounted the prosecution after trees were felled within the Totland Conservation Area on or before March 16, 2023. Formal permission should have been sought before the work was carried out, but this was never obtained.

A man was detained in Newport at around 12.30pm (Image: Contributed) An incident in an Isle of Wight town centre has led to the arrest of man this afternoon (Tuesday). Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary was called to St James Square, Newport at 10.05am this morning. Police responded to reports of a man causing a disturbance.
