    Staff at the Co-op in Burwell noticed Shane Sparks, 47, attempting to conceal a packet of burgers and some cheese down his trousers, on January 28 this year at about 1.30pm. The staff members confronted Sparks when he attempted to leave, but he pulled a kitchen knife out of his pocket and lunged towards them, holding the knife above his head. Sparks continued to brandish the knife towards staff as he threatened to “cut their insides out”.

    There were significant delays on the A1 in Peterborough this afternoon after a lorry entered a ditch. Queues of more than two miles were reported between Alwalton and Water Newton. Police closed one lane of the northbound carriageway to support the recovery of the HGV. The lane was closed briefly and re-opened at 1.35pm.

A premises license application submitted to Huntingdonshire District Council seeks approval for a brewery shop and the sale of alcohol.     3 1/1 The family of a Huntingdonshire teenager battling an aggressive form of cancer have issued a fresh fundraising plea amid "soaring" treatment costs.  Jamie Covington, now 14, from Godmanchester, was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma in May 2023.  Despite nine rounds of chemotherapy and 23 rounds of radiotherapy at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, where he achieved complete remission, he relapsed after just six months.  He then went on to receive a further 13 rounds of chemotherapy...
