0 As January draws to a close, so too does the transfer window with clubs looking to finalise their squads ahead of deadline day. Curiously, it has been a much quieter window than what we have become accustomed to over the past few years. This could be due to clubs exercising increased caution surrounding the Premier League’s Profit & Sustainability Rules following Everton’s 10-point deduction in November.

0 Several students participated in a protest in the Forum last Thursday in a strong display of support for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip while condemning the university’s silence and lack of a well-defined stance on the issue. Starting at around 1 pm, the protestors gathered around inside the Forum’s atrium for a sit-in, which lasted for quite a while.

0 The Australian Open is the first tennis major championship of the year and the 2024 edition began on the 7th of January, but some fan favourites were missing. Two-time winner Rafael Nadal unfortunately had to pull out of the competition, having torn a muscle in his hip whilst competing in Brisbane in an attempt to become match fit for the major.

0 Three current Exeter students have been selected for this year’s Six Nations Championship; Dafydd Jenkins, Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and Ross Vintcent have been called up for Wales, England and Italy, respectively. The Six Nations is a huge highlight of the northern hemisphere rugby calendar and this year’s tournament will be anticipated with greater fervour by those connected with these three young, outstanding talents.
