Ontario plans to extend strong-mayor powers to the heads of another 169 municipalities, including those in the Ottawa Valley. With the new powers, heads of council would be able to appoint the chief administrative officer, hire certain department heads, create committees, propose the municipal budget, propose and veto certain bylaws, and bring forward matters for consideration.
