    BUTLER COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - A Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) is opening up in Butler County, Missouri this Friday. According to EMA Director Robbie Myers, the DRC will begin operations starting June 6 at 8 a.m. to support the recovery of those impacted by the deadly March 14-15 storms. The DRC will be at the MPC World Impact Center, located at 727 Ridge Avenue in Poplar Bluff. It will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice. It will be closed on Sundays.

    MARION, Ill. (KFVS) - NubAbility Athletics Foundation will be hosting a golf scramble fundraiser, Tee Off Fore Nub Kids, this Sunday. According to the nonprofit, the event is set for June 8 at Kokopelli Golf Club, located at 1527 Champions Drive in Marion, Illinois. Registration begins at noon with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. A dinner will follow the scramble at 5 p.m.All proceeds from the event will support NubAbility’s mission to provide adaptive sports camps for youth with limb differences.

    CHICAGO, Ill. (KFVS) - On Wednesday, Governor JB Pritzker announced his appointment of Michele L. Pankow to serve as the Illinois State Fire Marshal, pending Senate confirmation. According to the governor’s office, Pankow has spent over 32 years in the Illinois fire service and will be the first woman to serve as the Illinois State Fire Marshal beginning in mid-July.

    FRANKFORT, Ky. (KFVS) - Kentuckians will now have more time to apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) after the spring storms. Governor Andy Beshear announced on Wednesday, June 4 that Kentucky’s request for a 30-day extension to the registration period for those impacted by the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, flooding, landslides and mudslides that began on April 2, has been approved.
