According to the university, the report was presented to the SEMO Board of Governors by the international labor market analytics firm, Lightcast. It shows SEMO contributed $1.4 billion to the state’s economy in Fiscal Year 2023-24--equivalent to supporting 14,725 jobs across the state.

LYON COUNTY, Ky. (KFVS) - Two people are facing charges after a woman reported her phone was stolen on Thursday. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said it began investigating the theft, which reportedly occurred at the Huck’s Travel Center in Kuttawa, Kentucky. A customer told investigators she laid her cell phone on a retail counter as she paid for merchandise.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - A man died from his injuries early Sunday morning after being hit by a truck in southern Illinois. According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 11000 block of Saraville Road for a report of a 38-year-old male hit by a vehicle just before midnight on May 10. When they arrived, the deputies found the victim lying on the ground in the driveway of a home where a truck drove over him.

CARTER COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - Two people were taken to an area hospital following a multi-vehicle crash Saturday night in Carter County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the incident happened at around 9 p.m. on May 10 on County Road 251, just 10 miles north of Grandin. MSHP said an ATV, driven by a 15-year-old boy, was traveling northbound when it side-swiped a southbound motorbike scooter, driven by a 16-year-old boy. This caused the scooter to overturn.

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - An 18-year-old man from New Madrid, Missouri was seriously injured in a crash Saturday night. According to the Mo. State Highway Patrol crash report, the man was driving southbound on Interstate 55 in Scott County at around 10:15 p.m. on May 10. That’s when his vehicle went off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and overturned. MSHP said the man was seriously injured and had to be taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment.
