    Welcome to 3 Days of DesignIt’s hard to fathom quite how quickly 3 Days of Design has risen to the top of the industry’s firmament. It started life in 2013 as a modest gathering of four brands in an old warehouse in Nordhavn. We were there, drinking craft beer out of cans, listening to house music surrounded by sofas, wondering if this was the future. Today, upwards of 500 companies, studios and designers from around the world will spill into venues across eight districts in the city.

    Wallpaper’s exhibition for Milan Design Week 2025 took up residence in a sweeping celestial space in the Triennale, a museum that's the home of design, in the world’s design capital, no less. ‘Material Alchemists’ (of which we gave a brief overview at the time) brought together the work of 20 emerging designers and studios, each demonstrating a passion and prowess for material exploration in their practice.

    It can feel a little trite attempting to parse trends in design. Design is a slower industry than fashion, and developments tend to be more gradual, with incremental change from year-to-year. This is why we talk about decades having a readable personality as movements, rather than seasons. That said, design responds to the present and heralds the future, and it is always an interesting lens through which to view the forces and values that shape our lives and lifestyles at any given moment in time.
