LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - During a special ceremony at the Laredo ISD Performing Arts Center, 145 teachers were recognized and rewarded for their outstanding performance in the classroom. On Monday, May 5th, the teachers received the Teacher Incentive Allotment from the Texas Education Agency. The program provides financial support to teachers to help cover their expenses and serves as a way to show appreciation for their dedication to helping students achieve success in their education.

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Webb County Sheriff’s Office confirms the discovery of a dead body as of Sunday, May 4th. The agency gave KGNS this confirmation shortly after 5:30pm Sunday evening. We were told that they had gotten a call about a deceased person in the northern part of Webb County. No official next of kin notification has been made, and the investigation is in its early stages. In a statement he released he says:“The will of the people was expressed, and in the end, ‘El Pueblo Manda.’ It is logical that no one wants higher taxes, especially in times of uncertainty. I want to thank and appreciate the work of the community committees because the uncertainty and volatility did not exist when they made their recommendations for the bond.

On Thursday, May 1, protesters gathered at the intersection of McPherson Rd. and Gale St. for multiple causes. Protesters held signs supporting veterans, workers, bodily autonomy and actions taken by the current administration that some believe could be felt at the local level.

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A woman was taken to San Antonio on Thursday morning, May 1, after being reportedly shot in the hand. The incident occurred at 10:30 a.m. at Jarvis Plaza in Downtown Laredo. We have been informed that the individual may have been under the influence of some substance, as she was found in a state of undress. The 32-year-old woman was taken to Laredo Medical Center in stable condition.
