Emergency medical responders reported receiving the call about the incident just before 2 p.m. on Friday, April 18. Mexican consulate reports rise in migrant deaths crossing Rio Grande

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Officials with the Mexican consulate are reporting a troubling increase in deaths among undocumented Mexican migrants attempting to enter the U.S. illegally. Since January, 22 Mexican citizens have died while crossing the Rio Grande. This marks an increase from the 18 deaths reported last year. The consulate is highlighting the dangers migrants face, including heatstroke, dehydration, drowning, and traffic accidents.

Mexican Consulate in Laredo expands services to select Saturdays

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Mexican Consulate in Laredo is extending its services to include select Saturdays throughout the year. Mexican officials will now offer services such as passport issuance, distribution of voting card applications, and certification of birth certificate copies on these designated Saturdays. Starting this month, on March 9th, the consulate will be open for appointments only. Officials stress the importance of bringing proper documentation to ensure a smooth process.
