KGNS-TV (Digital 8.1) serves audiences in both Texas and Mexico. In Texas, the station covers areas such as Laredo (market number 185), Asherton, Bruni, Carrizo Springs, Catarina, El Cenizo, Encinal, Hebbronville, Mirando City, Oilton, Rio Bravo, and Zapata. Across the border in Mexico, KGNS is available in Nuevo Laredo and Guerrero. Originally launched as KHAD-TV on January 7, 1956, the station has provided programming from NBC, CBS, and ABC. Since December 31, 2013, KGNS has been part of Gray Television and is affiliated with NBC, CW, CBS, ABC, and Telemundo. Through its community outreach program, KGNS CARES, the station engages in various local events and initiatives. One notable event is the "Shred for Hunger" day, which started in 2015 and has seen over 20,000 pounds of documents shredded while raising thousands of dollars for the South Texas Food Bank. Other community efforts include recognizing an "8th Grader of the Month" in partnership with local school districts and the Laredo Police Department, as well as honoring the "Friday Football Fever High School Player of the Week." In December, KGNS also collaborates with the Salvation Army to gather toys for children. The station promotes various public service initiatives through KGNS CARES across all its platforms.

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - One person was arrested following a vehicle chase that ended in Central Laredo over the weekend, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). The incident occurred Saturday afternoon, May 31, and was initially handled by U.S. Border Patrol agents. On Monday, Border Patrol released additional information, stating that agents responded to suspicious activity in the One River area. A white Ford Expedition was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed.
