The PSNI has issued a statement after an incident at a Co Down beach last week. Officers asked the public to "avoid spreading misinformation" surrounding the incident on Ballyholme Beach on Friday, April 11. Rumours had circulated last weekend that there was a fatality - this was deemed untrue by police, who called for "responsible" posting online. On Thursday, April 17, Chief Inspector Hutchinson said their investigation continues.

After a glorious week of sunshine, Ireland's spell of good weather is sadly coming to an end. The UK Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain for five counties in Northern Ireland on Wednesday ahead of "persistent" and "heavy" downpours in affected areas, while the Met Éireann forecast suggests it might not be the last warning before the week is out.

Northern Ireland has been basking in heat and sunshine for the last week, but as we all sadly knew, it wasn't to last. The Met Office has issued a weather warning for the region on Wednesday, April 16. That yellow warning is for rain, which will be "persistent" and "heavy". It is set to come into effect tomorrow at 2am, and go on through to 9pm. A spokesperson said: " Persistent, and at times heavy rain bringing some disruption to travel and potential for local flooding.

The father of a young man who tragically died during a storm has spoken of the family's ongoing struggle to find closure over their son's untimely passing. Matthew Campbell met his tragic end when he was hit by a tumbling tree while on duty at Slieve Gullion Forest Park in Newry during Storm Ali back in September 2018. The 200-year-old beech tree that crushed 24-year-old Matthew was alongside the forest park's entrance, which fell under the management and control of the Council.

The father of a young man who was killed during Storm Ali has spoken of his family's pain as they continue to seek answers surrounding their son's death. Matthew Campbell was fatally struck by a falling tree when working at Slieve Gullion Forest Park in Newry in September 2018. The 200-year-old beech tree fell on 24-year-old Matthew while he was working near to the entrance of the forest park which was under the management and control of the Council.
