Next Friday, May 16, marks World Barrett’s Oesophagus Day and the Irish charity OCF (Oesophageal Cancer Fund) is urging people to know the symptoms of Barrett’s and to visit their GP if they have persistent reflux, heartburn, indigestion or difficulty swallowing food. OCF suggests that people need to mind y/our gut health through a good diet, maintaining a healthy weight and perhaps increased exercise, reduced stress and to stop vaping or smoking.

Tributes have been pouring in from across the country following the death of Garda Kevin Flatley, who was struck by a motorcycle while carrying out a checkpoint in the Lanestown area yesterday afternoon. Garda Flatley, aged 49, was a member of the Roads Policing Unit based at Dublin Castle and had served with distinction for more than 26 years. His tragic death marks the 90th time a member of An Garda Síochána has lost their life in the performance of duty.
