GRAND FORKS – Local photographer Paul Gronhovd has been selected to receive the 2025 Mayor’s Choice Artist Award. Gronhovd will be honored during an open house from 5 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, May 15, at City Hall, 255 N. Fourth St. Thirty of his photos will be on exhibit. The event is open to the public. Mayor Brandon Bochenski is expected to formally present the award to Gronhovd during the open house.

EAST GRAND FORKS – Arnold Phillips received a fitting tribute Friday, May 9, when members of the Prime Steel Car Club joined his funeral procession, driving classic cars behind the hearse that carried him from a church in East Grand Forks to his final resting place at the Bygland Lutheran Church cemetery in Bygland, Minnesota.

GRAND FORKS –The local Letter Carriers Food Drive is planned for this Saturday, May 10. Homeowners may leave bags of non-perishable items, such as canned goods and other packaged foods, in plastic bags near mailboxes for pick up by U.S. postal workers that day. Perishable foods, such as meat, fruits and vegetables, should not be donated.

GRAND FORKS – Three area contestants were among the seven who won titles during the 2025 North Dakota State Pageant held recently at the Empire Arts Center. Natalie Lund of Mekinock, Rorie Christenson of Grand Forks, and Charlotte Krogfoss of Thompson earned titles in different categories of the pageant. Lund, who was crowned Teen Miss for North Dakota 2025, is a high school junior and is home-schooled.

Johnny’s Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Belfield Lutheran Church with Rev. Mike Pretzer as officiant. Military Honors will be provided by the Belfield American Legion William C. Blair Post 144. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
