IntroductionAs demonstrated in aquaporin-4 (AQP4)-IgG positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (AQP4 + NMOSD), knowledge of the pathophysiology of autoimmune neurological conditions is the most important step for the development of tailored treatments.1,2Summarizing, a pro-inflammatory environment and the peripheral loss of self-tolerance lead to the production of autoreactive IgGs by plasmablasts.
