The vehicle sought in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Hanover last week has been located destroyed by fire in a bush lot near the town, police say. Hanover police Chief Chris Knoll said in a social media post that investigators had recovered a burned 2007 PT Cruiser in a bush lot on Sideroad 25 just north of Morry’s Trailer Service, which is just to the west of Hanover – a town of about 8,000 located 150 kilometres north of London.

A London man faces charges after a string of copper thefts from downtown over a five-month period. London police launched an investigation following 23 reports of copper thefts at 21 sites across the city’s core between November and March, police said. Investigators reviewed surveillance video and determined the same suspect was involved in the thefts, police said.

At least two bars and two multi-unit residential buildings back onto the parking lot. Police also blocked off the northbound lanes of Wellington Street between Dundas Street and Queens Avenue, with police saying it wasn’t immediately clear where the shooting occurred. The probe appeared to be focused on a parking lot on the south side of Queens Avenue, just east of Wellington Street. Yellow police tape closed off a large section as investigators used flashlights to search the ground for evidence.
