    ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) - As the wedge breaks across the region, warmer air is expected to continue moving in. Temperatures on Thursday will be warmer, returning to near average levels. The day will start with temperatures in the 50s before rising into the 70s during the afternoon. As one storm system moves out, another will move closer. Ahead of it on Thursday, isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected, especially during the afternoon. Thunderstorms will return to the region again on Friday.

    ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) - More rain is expected Tuesday night into Wednesday. The rain will likely be steady through midday, then more hit-or-miss into the afternoon. During the afternoon, some sunshine is expected to return to the region, which should allow temperatures to increase. Temperatures will start Wednesday in the 40s and 50s before rising into the 60s for most during the afternoon. Rainfall could be heavy through Wednesday morning before becoming more spotty during the afternoon.

    ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) - Cool, wet and dreary conditions will continue overnight into the day on Tuesday. The region remains on the north side of a cold front, which will allow the cooler air to remain in place. A warm front will lift north of the region on Wednesday, with temperatures starting to rise. Rain is expected throughout the day on Tuesday. The rain could be heavy at times with one to 1.25 inches expected over the next couple of days.

    ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) - Winds will decrease Friday night, but a slight increase is expected Saturday, with gusts to 20 mph expected. Winds will decrease Saturday night and remain light into Sunday. Dry conditions are expected on Saturday as high pressure builds into the region. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions are expected during the day with a few more clouds building in Saturday night. Rain chances look to return on Sunday. Spotty showers are expected, so not everyone will get wet.

    ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR) - Windy conditions will continue tonight into the day on Friday, though wind speeds should be slightly lower. Gusts to 25 mph are possible tonight, with gusts to 30 mph expected Friday. Dry conditions are expected Friday into Saturday, with a spotty shower possible in the South on Sunday. Dry conditions will allow the region to dry out after a wet week. The latest drought monitor shows dry conditions holding on in parts of Halifax and Highland Counties.
