ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) - Most of the region will dry out on Wednesday as partly cloudy conditions return. The one exception will be the Mountain Empire, where a few afternoon showers are possible. Temperatures will return to near-average levels on Wednesday with many areas starting in the 50s before rising into the 70s during the afternoon. Rain chances begin to increase again on Thursday, with the best rain potential coming in on Friday.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) - Off and on rain chances are expected through the week and into the first half of the weekend. For the next seven days, up to a half-inch of rain is expected with higher amounts in the west and for the Mountain Empire. Showers are possible overnight into Tuesday morning as a cold front moves through. A couple of rumbles of thunder are also possible. Rain chances are highest in Southside on Tuesday. Behind the cold front, temperatures will drop slightly on Tuesday.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) - Warm air will return to the region on Saturday with temperatures at least 15 degrees above average during the afternoon. The day will start with temperatures in the 50s and 60s before rising into the 80s. A couple of spots in the south could hit 90. It looks like temperatures will be below record highs, but it will be close, especially in Roanoke and Blacksburg, where the forecast temperature is only three degrees away from the record.

Some occasional cloud cover is possible on Friday, but a lot of the day will be filled with sunshine.
