    Sun Peaks in BC is the latest in a growing list of ski areas to decide to stockpile snow through  the summer in order to get a jump start on the 25-36 season. It’s the first in Canada to do so. The resort is reported to have invested CAD$180,000 in 18 huge, insulated mats which it has placed on top of snow piles to protect them from sunshine from above and keep them cool underneath.

    Xscape Milton Keynes, home to the UK’s second oldest indoor snow centre, Snozone Milton Keynes, is celebrating 25 years of operations. Standing at 44 metres tall, the complex is one of the tallest buildings on the city’s skyline. The building covers an area of 60,000 square metres which is equivalent to five and a half football pitches. The structural frame of the building contains more than 5,000 tonnes of steel, fabricated to exacting tolerances, to create its iconic curved roof.

    The sun has been shining and yes, it’s only May, but while most Brits are still booking their summer holidays, some ski companies are warning that their December and Easter availability is dropping fast. VIP SKI reports 71% of its chalets are snapped up for Christmas 2025, with no deals expected this festive season. The week before Christmas (14 Dec), seen as one of the season’s cheaper weeks, is already 88% sold, and Easter’s filling fast too (74% sold).

    Colorado-based Vail Resorts, the world’s largest ski resort operator, has added five leading Austrian resorts to its Epic Pass portfolio of ski areas. The Epic Pass is a global season pass which grants different amounts of access to ski areas around the world, with unlimited access to most of the 40+ ski areas Vail themselves own or operate in Australia, Canada, the US and Japan, and more limited access to dozens of partner resorts around the world.

    Utah’s Sundance ski area has announced a new high-speed quad lift and will make two significant terrain expansions over the next few years. The new Electric Horseman Express and the two significant terrain expansions totalling 165 acres won’t be opening next winter (except for previews) but are planned to debut the season after, winter 2026–27 season.
