Members of staff at the school have been subjected to “significant threats and abuse" since allegations emerged. Police are investigating reports that a nine year-old autistic child was assaulted at an additional support needs school in Cumnock. Ayrshire Live can reveal that a probe is now underway to establish the circumstances of the alleged incident. It’s understood that a council employee at the centre of the allegation has been dismissed.

Granny Smith’s blueprints have been given the green light. Bosses at an Ayrshire nursery have gained permission to expand their offering to pre-school children. Granny Smith’s Day Nursery, currently based in Troon’s Ayr Street, previously sought permission for a change of use and to erect a fence at a unit in nearby 29 West Portland Street. The nursery lodged a planning application, seeking permission for the venture from South Ayrshire Council.

Volunteers say they are 'thrilled'. The charity organisation which helps manage Dundonald Castle and Visitor Centre say they are “thrilled” they’ve been granted planning permission to expand their offering. A planning application on behalf of the group was previously lodged with South Ayrshire Council, seeking permission to make alterations and build an extension to the existing visitor centre in Winehouse Yett.
