The County Grand Orange Lodge of Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and Argyll has submitted a notice to North Ayrshire Council to hold a public procession in Kilbirnie on Saturday, June 28. The event has been organised to celebrate the 335th anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne. Between 2,500 and 3,000 walkers are expected to attend the event.

It comes as details are revealed for Scotland's first-ever 'Veterans Day' celebration to take place in the town. Arranged by North Ayrshire councillor Jim Montgomerie, the event will feature two parts and it is hoped this will become an annual celebration.

With 13 of 14 matches played, everything came down to the final match of the season when the league's top two sides met. Irvine Rangers headed to Winton Park on Sunday, April 13, to take on Ardrossan Winton Rovers with the trophy on the line.
