Volunteer lifeboat crews in Ayrshire were called out after reports of a person in the water at a busy ferry terminal. Largs RNLI were called to assist with rescue efforts after a person entered the water at Wemyss Bay Ferry Terminal on Wednesday afternoon, June 18. Coastguard rescue teams were also on hand as a multi-agency response was launched.

The pair had been out walking in the Cock Farm area in the north of the island. At around 5.45pm, they had become "disoriented and exhausted" on steep ground. Crews from the Arran Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to assist the walkers.

The union has hailed the 'brave' drivers who took strike action. Stagecoach drivers in Ayrshire have "overwhelmingly" backed an 18-month, 11.5 per cent pay deal agreed between Unite the Union and the bus operator. A 10-day strike came to an end earlier this week after a breakthrough was reached between Stagecoach and the union on Tuesday, June 17. The new deal, officially supported by drivers today, Friday, June 20, will see an end to further disruption.
