An online threat made against People Before Profit-Solidarity TD Ruth Coppinger after she declined to answer a question at a press briefing has been reported to gardaí. The Dublin West TD last week declined to answer a question from the website Gript on the Leinster House plinth, saying she did not feel the website "acts in good faith", prompting a number of journalists to walk away from the event in protest.

Environmental objectors to infrastructure projects are costing the taxpayer billions and stopping young people from buying homes, the CEO of Uisce Éireann has claimed. Niall Gleeson, who was speaking at the official opening of a wastewater treatment plant in Arklow, Co Wicklow, said that a similar project in north Dublin which had received planning permission at the same time was yet to begin due to planning objections.

Irish people are overwhelmingly in favour of EU membership but support has dropped to its lowest level since 2013, according to a new poll. The annual European Movement Ireland Poll, conducted with Amárach Research, has found while 82% of people support Ireland's membership of the EU, some 43% do not believe their views are represented at EU level. The poll also found 34% of Irish people feel the EU is not upholding its core values, and 26% are dissatisfied with its direction.

A Cork mother has been told her disabled daughter's last chance for treatment in Ireland is no longer open to her because she complained about a doctor's manner. Antoinette Burke, who has been campaigning for her daughter Katie since her diagnosis with cerebral palsy, has received a letter from the National Orthopaedic Hospital advising her that Katie would no longer receive treatment from one of its surgeons after she lodged a written complaint to the Medical Council.
