SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Police say several parked vehicles have damage after shots were fired in downtown Sioux Falls early Sunday morning. The call came in just before 1 a.m. in the area of East 11th Street and South First Avenue. Police say a group of people appear to have been playing dice in a parking lot when the shots were fired. Officers found handgun shell casings in two separate areas of the parking lot. AdvertisementAdvertisementNo one was hurt. So far, no arrests yet.

BRANDON, SD (KELO) — The green flag drops on racing season at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon. The Mother’s Day Opener includes sprint car and late-model street stocks. Gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. The races start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, $10 for students and free for ages 12 and under. The Summer Concert Series kicks off at Good Earth State Park in Sioux Falls.

(Associated Press) — A Soviet-era spacecraft has plunged to Earth, more than a half-century after its failed launch to Venus. The half-ton spacecraft fell out of orbit on Saturday. The European Union Space Surveillance and Tracking confirmed its uncontrolled entry. It was not immediately known where it came down or how much, if any, of the Kosmos 482 spacecraft survived the fiery descent through the atmosphere.

GENEVA (AP) – Chinese state media report the U.S. Treasury Secretary and America’s top trade negotiator have begun talks with high-ranking Chinese officials in Switzerland to de-escalate a dispute that threatens to cut off trade between the world’s two biggest economies and damage the global economy. The Xinhua News Agency says Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer have begun meetings in Geneva with a Chinese delegation led by Vice Premier He Lifeng.

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Two people are dead in a weekend crash in southeastern Sioux Falls. It happened just before 6:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of 57th Street and Veterans Parkway. Police say the driver of a car was turning left onto 57th Street in front of an oncoming pickup truck and the two vehicles collided. A 78-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, died at the scene. The 77-year-old man driving the car later died at the hospital. Both are from Lester, Iowa.
