    CHICAGO (Associated Press) — In his first words directed specifically to Americans, Pope Leo XIV told young people on Saturday how to find hope and meaning in their lives through God and in service to others. The message was delivered in a video broadcast on the jumbotron at the White Sox baseball stadium in Chicago, That is Leo’s hometown, and he roots for the White Sox. The event was organized by the Archdiocese of Chicago in honor of his recent election as pope.

    SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Two new road construction projects will impact both vehicle and bicycle traffic in Sioux Falls this week. Starting Monday, the outside, northbound lane of North Minnesota Avenue will be closed between 14th and 18th streets. It’s the latest phase of sidewalk improvements on Minnesota Avenue. The entire project should be finished in August. Also starting Monday, a section of the bike trail at Tuthill Park, east of South Cliff Avenue will be closed for repairs.

    BROOKINGS, SD (KELO) — You can fly a kite of your own, or enjoy the giant show kites from flyers across the region during the Brookings Kite Festival. There will also be food trucks and kids games. The festival is taking from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fishback Soccer Complex. Admission is free. VFW Post 628 in Sioux Falls is hosting its monthly All-You-Can Eat Pancake Breakfast. Serving time is 8:30 a.m. to noon at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance. The cost is $8 for adults, $2 for children.

    TEL AVIV, ISRAEL (Associated Press ) — Israel has warned of more attacks on Iran after Iran’s deadly retaliatory missile strikes on Israel overnight and into Saturday. The blistering Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear program and its armed forces began on Friday. Israel’s assault used warplanes, as well as drones smuggled into the country in advance, to assault key facilities and kill top generals and scientists.
