In February, MySA reported that Portillo's would bring its Chicago-style hot dogs closer to San Antonio than ever, with a new location headed to the Schertz area just Northeast of town. We now know that the Illinois-based company is opening yet another restaurant near the Alamo City. In a report from April, MySA highlighted an up-and-coming retail area in Castroville called Alsatian Oaks, which will feature a number of stores like Bath & Body Works and T.J. Maxx.

A new restaurant serving up Chinese specialties is celebrating its soft opening this week on San Antonio's Northside. MySA spoke with the business to learn more about its budding concept. Duck & Dumpling is now open on Thousand Oaks Drive, joining a growing neighborhood of Asian eateries, such as Dashi Chinese Kitchen + Bar, Full House Chinese Restaurant, Thai Chili and Izumi Sushi & Hibachi. Make Ready Market hasn't hit the two-year mark quite yet, but the San Antonio food hall has already seen a few concepts come and go. The latest to vacate is one of the hall's founding concepts, Garaje Cantina, which announced its permanent closure on Wednesday, May 7. "It's been a pleasure to serve you, San Anto, and we will be forever grateful for the warmth and support the River North neighborhood showed us. Garaje Cantina is officially closed.

In November 2024, MySA sat down with Karen and Drew Meyer, the parents of chef Leah Meyer, who have been working together to bring Leah's dream of opening her own coffee shop to life. Earlier this week, that dream came true with the launch of The Mermaid Cafe in San Antonio.
