AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The West Plains Wolves defeated the Canyon Eagles by a score of 8-1 on Friday. With both teams entering the game holding a district record of 10-1, the winner was set to claim sole possession of the district lead, offering a clear runway to the title with only two games remaining. West Plains took the initial lead with two runs in the bottom of the 1st. Canyon responded with a run in the top of the 2nd, but it would be their only run of the day.

It was the final game of the regular season for both teams, and with a tight playoff race, the winner was set to claim the final playoff spot from District 4-4A. Canyon got on the board first with a run in the top of the 1st. The two teams then traded runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to make it a 2-1 ballgame.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Tascosa senior, Nick Carducci, signed his letter of intent on Wednesday afternoon to further both his academic and athletic career at Oklahoma Wesleyan University on the men’s soccer team. The team out of Bartlesville, Okla. was one of the best in the NAIA division, going 22-2 overall and finishing as one of the final eight teams in contention. Carducci said he feels like Tascosa has prepared him for his next steps in life.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Springfield Cardinals defeated the Amarillo Sod Poodles by a score of 10-9 on Wednesday. It was the second home game of the season for the Sod Poodles, after Springfield took game one on Tuesday. Springfield got on the board first, with two runs in the first and another in the second. They scored again in the top of the fourth to make it 4-0, but Amarillo exploded for six runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.
