The famed Crater Lake in Oregon will soon be closed to the public for years, so if it's been sitting on your bucket list for while, now might be the time to plan that trip. Here's what's happening: Starting in 2026, the park will close the Cleetwood Cove Trail for repairs and improvements, and it's not expected to reopen until the summer of 2029. And since this is the only permitted path to access the lake, that means the country's deepest lake will be effectively closed for three years.

A lava fissure continued to grow and move toward a town in southwestern Iceland on Tuesday, forcing evacuations of residents and tourists alike. The volcano on Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula has erupted on and off since reawakening in 2023 for the first time in 800 years. The latest fissure has grown to about three-quarters of a mile long just north of the town of Grindavik, which has largely been evacuated since 2023, according to BBC.com.
