ABSTRACTWorking in a prison can be challenging. Research demonstrates the negative impact it can have on health and wellbeing, therefore there is a need for employers to respond to this to retain healthy and motivated staff. This paper reports on a rapid evidence review of academic literature which explored the support provided for wellbeing and development of people working in prisons.

1 INTRODUCTION Prisons have been described as ‘the quintessential government institution, with almost complete control over the lives of people compelled to spend time in them’ (Bierie & Mann, 2017, p.478). Many employers will have their employer accreditation status coming up for renewal in the next few months and should take note of a significant change in INZ’s approach to these applications. New Zealand has gone to the polls and voted for change. What will this swing to the right mean for New Zealand’s immigration settings? As at 17 October, National and ACT’s combined take results in 61 out of 122 seats, just enough to govern together (which they have already agreed to do). However, the final outcome of the election won’t be known until early November when all approximately 500,000 special votes have been counted.
