In a dramatic and efficient rescue mission, Navi Mumbai Police successfully traced and freed a kidnapped trader within 24 hours of the abduction, arresting three suspects linked to the crime. The incident unfolded late evening on May 18, when Pankesh Sanjay Patil (27), a trader, was kidnapped near Ashwar Business Park in APMC, Navi Mumbai. Patil and his business partner, Prashant Appasaheb Khairnar (33), were returning home when a white Maruti Swift intercepted them.

According to the administration, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a five-day warning for fishermen and coastal communities in Maharashtra, Goa, and surrounding maritime regions due to expected squally weather and strong winds from May 19 to May 23.

Navi Mumbai: As part of its campaign to make the city plastic-free, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has taken strict action against businesses found using banned single-use plastic items. Since May 1, 21 establishments have been penalized, resulting in the collection of Rs 1.05 lakh in fines and the seizure of over 103 kilograms of plastic. The civic body’s enforcement drive is being carried out under the leadership of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde.
