About 6 miles of the Fox River Trail will be repaved this year for the first time in 24 years, and parts of the trail will close over the summer. The trail stretches 20 miles from downtown Green Bay to the Brown County and Calumet County line. It's used over 231,000 times in a year. The first round of construction will start May 5. Brown County Board Chair Pat Buckley announced a new alternate site to relocate the coal piles from downtown Green Bay after an initial location didn't receive county approval. Buckley on April 28 said the new alternate site comes after "failed negotiations" between C. Reiss Co. and the city over another alternate site that was not the Pulliam property, according to a news release. The location of the first alternate site has not been released.
