    NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News schools commemorated the history of Huntington Middle School and also unveiled its plans for its future. The school will be getting a new building that will begin construction next year. Officials hope to have it ready by the 2025/2026 school year. The old building closed back in 2018, since then, classes have been held at Heritage High School. "The most important thing is our children and we have to invest in them," said Phillip Jones, Newport News mayor.

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Spectators packed the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Wednesday watching the Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championship. It came as the National Weather Service issued a "dangerous shorebreak" warning for Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks of Currituck County. Dangerous shorebreak is expected for VA Beach and Outer Banks Currituck Wednesday. Shorebreak can throw swimmers and surfers to the bottom causing head and neck injuries. Pay attention to flags and posted signs.

Collins, Jr. was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Combat Distinguished Device for meritorious service in connection to his operations in Vietnam.
