GREER, S.C. — With the Korn Ferry Tour coming to the Midlands in May of 2026, there has been a little more interest in what has been going on this week in the Upstate with the annual BMW Charity Pro-Am. As is usually the case, the winner had to go very low and Austin Smotherman did just that and in the process, he overcame a four-shot deficit over the final 10 holes.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Farrington Huguenin starred at Dreher High School before his career took him to Kentucky where he was an effective defensive end for the Wilcats. A four-year NFL career followed as he played for the Dolphins, Steelers and Buccaneers before he retired in 2019. Farrington has since evolved into coaching as he he about to enter his second season as a defensive line coach at York Comprehensive High School in Rock Hill.

AUBURN, Ala. — Kevin Schnall was an assistant on the 2016 Coastal Carolina team which went on the road to Baton Rouge and defeated LSU in the Super Regionals to advance to the College World Series. That magical run to Omaha ended with the Chanticleers winning the national championship. Nearly a decade later, Schnall is now the head coach of the Chanticleers and like Gary Gilmore in 2016, Schnall is leading his team against an SEC foe where two wins can land you in the College World Series.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The FIFA Club World Cup kicks off on June 14 and runs through July 17 and the South Carolina facilities will play a role in one team's preparation. Coluimbia is one of 34 Team Base Camp Training Sites and will be host Fluminense FC, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Fluminense is Brazil’s first and oldest club, winning the 1952 World Club Championship, five national championship titles, and more than 20 international tournament titles with more than five million fans worldwide.

For the first time since 2014, the Clemson basketball team will be on the court at Madison Square Garden. The Tigers will play Brigham Young University on Tuesday, Dec. 9 in the Jimmy V Classic. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN. The last time Clemson was inside that iconic arena was on April 1, 2014, when the Tigers lost to SMU in the NIT semifinals.
