    COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina women's basketball team continues to set a standard in the attendance category. For the 11th-consecutive season, the Gamecocks led the nation in attendance average, drawing a program-record 16,437 fans per home game at Colonial Life Arena for the 2024-2025 season. When the final numbers were in, Carolina out-drew the second-place team by nearly 1,500 per game and surpassed 16,000 fans per game for the second time in as many seasons.

    AUGUSTA, Ga. — Lucas Glover says he will have a few goose bumps before he tees off in Thursday's opening round of the Masters. But he joked that as a veteran of this tournament, the nervousness lasts only "1 or 2 shots" instead of "1 or 2 holes" which was the norm when he first started competing in a tournament which he absolutely adores. "Grew up two hours from here and came here the first time in 1986.

    In spite of a well-documented hand injury that occurred Christmas Day in his kitchen, defending Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is in good spirits as he tries to defend his title in Augusta. Scheffler missed a couple of starts at the start of the year as he recovered from a mishap which involved a wine glass and homemade ravioli. Scheffler has recovered from the punctured palm and he will tee it at the Masters feel confident in his preparation.

    COLUMBIA, S.C. — The SCHSL state championship games are changing venues for 2026 but they will be returning to a previous home. The executive committee of the South Carolina High School League voted Wednesday to bring the state finals back to Colonial Life Arena. The home of the Gamecocks, the CLA and Carolina Coliseum, had been the permanent host of the state finals until 2020. The next three seasons, the state finals were held at USC Aiken's Convocation Center from 2021-2023.

    LEXINGTON, S.C. — Shaelyn Hayes had quite the career for the White Knoll girls basketball team. She went over the 1,000 point mark for her career while helping that program secure its first ever home playoff game this season. It was two Saturdays ago when she competed in the SCBCA North-South All-Star Game, earning MVP honors for the South Team. Shaelyn says she is generating interest from a few D2 schools although her play in the All-Star Game could generate interest from more schools.
