A MUTARE man and his accomplice appeared in court yesterday facing allegations of hacking the Forex Access system, a money transfer firm and fraudulently withdrawing US$220 000 last year.
Ngonidzashe Lison Dhubiyo (29) and Terrence Mashumba (38) appeared before Harare magistrate Isheunesu Matova facing two counts of fraud and money laundering.
They were remanded in custody to Monday for bail consideration.
The complainant is Access Forex (Pvt) Ltd being represented by the auditor Patson Makina.

HARARE, Jan 30 (NewsDay Live) Three inmates at Harare Remand Prison have been sentenced to 20 years each for aggravated indecent assault after sexually abusing a fellow prisoner.
The trio of Kingswell Ngwerume (32), Kudakwashe Mazorodze (35), and Lazarus Chinobhururuka (40) was convicted by regional magistrate Loice Mukunyadze on Thursday.
Prosecutor Munyaradzi Muza told the court that the incident occurred on the night of August 11, 2024.

A HARARE policeman, who is being accused of aiding wars over illegal ranks in Harare’s central business district was on Saturday arraigned before the courts charged with resisting arrest and abuse of duty.
Tonderai Manyika (34) was released on US$50 bail by Harare provincial magistrate Apollonia Marutya.
He is expected back in court on February 20 pending finalisation of investigations.

A FORMER councillor for Beatrice ward 16 and war veteran reportedly lost US$11 000 last year to a suspected fraudster who allegedly promised to secure him US$2 million from a non-governmental organisation for use in community development and campaign purposes.
This was revealed last week before Harare provincial magistrate Apollonia Marutya, after the complainant Claudious Nyashanhu dragged Gilbert Kanokanga to court on allegations of fraud.

THE charges levelled against Chemplex Corporation Limited chief executive James Chigwende were yesterday withdrawn after the court ruled that he should not be charged in his personal capacity.
Instead, the State has now placed the company on remand, represented by its legal manager, Kudakwashe Jenami.
Harare magistrate Isheanesu Matova postponed the matter to February 3 for a trial date, with minor docket amendments pending.

A 42-YEAR-OLD Harare man who in August this year allegedly assaulted a court official who tried to reprimand him for becoming violent towards a resident magistrate at the Mbare Magistrates Court has appeared in court.
Eliah Mhiyangwa, from Old Highfield, appeared before Harare provincial magistrate Apollonia Marutya on Wednesday charged with assault as defined in section 89(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

SEVEN City of Harare councillors facing two counts of criminal abuse of office have been acquitted by regional magistrate Donald Ndirowei. The councillors — Costa Mande, Gilbert Thamsanga Hadebe, Maxwell Dutuma, Loveness Gomba, Happymore Gotora, Ian Muteto Makone and Stanley Manasi Manyenga — are members of the finance and development committee. The court ruled that witnesses had failed to provide evidence showing that Mande and his colleagues unlawfully allocated commercial stands to themselves.

THE trial of 16 Registrar-General officers accused of fraudulently issuing passports to four Cameroonian nationals will kick off on December 18.
The suspects will appear before Harare regional magistrate Taurai Mamiwere for a two-day trial.
