Megs Yunn spread plenty of cheer among state lawmakers who visited her North Huntingdon warehouse Wednesday. The legislators are considering help for Pennsylvania mothers and babies, possibly replicating what Yunn has accomplished through Beverly’s PGH, which has supported thousands of families in the region. “How can we expand this concept of making sure babies, moms and families have what they need, especially in that first year after birth?” said state Rep. La’Tasha D. Mayes, D-Morningside.

Charges were filed Wednesday against a second man in connection with a 2023 fatal shooting in Jeannette. Deshawn Russell, 27, of Pittsburgh, was awaiting arraignment on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, conspiracy and related offenses. The second set of charges comes a day after Maleek Dionte Green, 27, of Pittsburgh, was arraigned on identical charges related to the June 9, 2023 death of Brianna Lartz at a home on Lowry Avenue. Three others were hurt.

When Bryan Murray hadn’t heard from his fiancee Friday morning, he went to the Rostraver home where they lived to check on her, according to a search warrant filed by police Tuesday. Murray reported to township police that he found Jennah M. Seibert, 24, dead in a bed around noon Friday. Rostraver police sought video and photograph surveillance evidence from CFS Bank in Monongahela in connection with Seibert’s death, according to the search warrant. Authorities have said Seibert was fatally shot.

Two New York men are behind bars after state police said they scammed a Unity woman out of $19,000 and led troopers on a chase that ended in their capture on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Preliminary hearings are scheduled later this month for Reheem J. Anderson, 22, and Floyd B. Forrest, 26. They are charged with corrupt organizations, theft, fleeing from police, reckless endangerment and related offenses.

A property on Frothingham Avenue is being donated to Jeannette and city officials said a home on it may be rehabilitated or demolished. City council last week accepted the donation of 148 Frothingham Ave. in a 4-1 vote. Councilwoman Michelle Langdon cast the opposing vote. City manager Ethan Keedy said demolition is an option, as is potentially rehabilitating the home. Either project could be funded through dedicated streams of county, state or federal dollars, he said.
