COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) – There’s something special happening on the soccer pitch this season. Shaw High School hasn’t seen a boys soccer quite like this. Head Coach Curtiss Moore put it simply. “This is a magical team,” said Coach Moore. The Shaw Boys Soccer team has become one of the best teams in the state. The Raiders defeated the Jackson High Red Devils, 5-2, and now Shaw is heading to the GHSA Class 2A Final Four. The game is more than just a win for the team.

Columbus, Ga. – As the temperatures start to rise and the dog days of summer quickly approach more people will look for ways to cool off. One popular way is to head to the pool, and that also means more lifeguards need to be on duty. Megan Morgan, the Senior Aquatics Director for the YMCA of Metropolitan Columbus, says this is a very busy season for them. “Especially with all our summer camp swimmers coming in. We see as many as 150 per day,” said Morgan.

The Miracle Riders are in the middle of their ride across the country to help raise funds for Columbus State University’s Nursing Program. The Riders took off from Columbus, Georgia on Friday, May 2nd. This year’s theme for the Miracle Ride is the “Pony Express”. The Riders will travel to different homes and hand deliver letters to people across the nation that have a connection to Chattahoochee Valley. On Saturday, May 3rd, the Riders delivered Mary Bowen Banes in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Phenix City, AL – The Central Phenix City baseball team is once again in the middle of the AHSAA Playoff picture . It’s become routine to see the Red Devils compete this late in the baseball season. The team says there’s plenty of work left to do. “Each day, each player and each coach has a mission and has a goal. As long as we stay on that course and that task. Then our next 6 or 8 games is something that we can look forward to.
