Nine Western Australian artists will embark on ambitious new projects with the support of the Minderoo Artist Fund, which provides grants and residencies to mid-career creatives. Among the recipients are Indigenous artists Gary Hamaguchi and Mark Coles Smith. Hamaguchi, a Jaru/Noongar/Japanese filmmaker, will develop Kodj, a sci-fi film about a Noongar father teaching his son traditional knowledge to survive an alien invasion.

Indigenous tourism operators in Western Australia have urged the WA Government to increase funding in a sector where participation rates more than doubled in recent years. The Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council submitted a $40 million investment plan to leverage growing demand for Aboriginal tourism to the state government months before Saturday's state election, a proposal strongly supported by the WA Tourism Council.

In a special ceremony at Government House Ballroom on Thursday, sixteen exceptional women - including six Indigenous women - were inducted into the WA Women's Hall of Fame, with an additional four women recognised posthumously in the Roll of Honour. Inductees were recognised across eight categories—Arts, Business, Community, Culture, Education, Health, Sport, and STEM & Technical Trades—highlighting their diverse and outstanding achievements.

More than 40 communities and across the country will benefit under the First Nations Languages Education Program, the federal government has announced. Over $11 million in grants will be offered for 26 projects to help strengthen Indigenous language education in primary schools as part of the government's commitment to Closing the Gap. One of the project applicants from South Australia said their language had not been used in everyday context for some time.
