MATERIALS AND METHODSHeLa (cervical, p53-degraded via HPV-E6), CAL27 [head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), TP53 H183L], SAS (HNSCC, TP53 E336*), MCF7, and MDA-MB-231 (breast, TP53 R280K) cell lines were cultured in Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium (DMEM) (Life Technologies) supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) (Sigma-Aldrich) and 1% penicillin-streptomycin (P/S) (Life Technologies).

Rating: 8/10Spoilers ahead for “Mean Girls: The Musical” (2018). The 2018 Broadway musical “Mean Girls: The Musical” was brought to Aggieland by MSC OPAS on Nov. 1 and 2. Held in Rudder Auditorium, the show was greeted by a nearly-full house on both days. Based on the iconic 2004 movie “Mean Girls,” writer and actress Tina Fey wrote the musical under the same name. The plot follows naive, formerly-homeschooled Cady Heron on her quest to navigate the perils of American high school cliques.

Australian competitive eater James Webb came to KinderHill Brew Lab in Bryan and tried to eat as many tacos as he could in 20 minutes on Sept. 28. He live streamed the challenge to help promote Raging Bull Street Tacos, or RBST, and practice for an upcoming competitive eating contest. Major League Eating is the international organization that “oversees all professional eating contests,” according to its website.

Releasing on July 21, “Oppenheimer” and “Barbie” share the title of the most anticipated movies of the summer. The buzz surrounding both has been nicknamed “Barbenheimer.” With articles discussing the all-star cast of “Oppenheimer” and the minute details put into “Barbie” (Margot Robbie jumping from her mansion into her car), Aggies have high expectations for the upcoming double feature.

Kristin King, Class of 2003 and 2005, lost her husband Christopher Cooper, Class of 1997, in a tragic car accident 14 years ago. In honor of the love they shared for Texas A&M University, she wrote a children’s book about what it means to be an Aggie. With pictures depicting the iconic parts of the flagship College Station campus and sweet Easter eggs, King wrote The Heart of Aggieland to give readers a glimpse into why her family has loved A&M for decades.

I got credit for completing over 90 hours last semester. I ordered my Aggie Ring in January. That Ring Day is coming up this Thursday. I like jewelry. I wear cheap necklaces, anklets and bracelets that turn my skin green. This one won’t. Plus, I think it symbolizes a little more than my Forever 21 mushroom necklace. So now I’m sitting in class, not paying attention like I should be, and trying to understand why I care so much about this ring.

The McFerrin Student Marketplace will be held on Thursday, April 13, from 4-7 p.m. at the McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship. Started in the fall of 2021, the marketplace invites student vendors to showcase their businesses to other Aggies.With free parking and on an Aggie Spirit bus route, the center works to help Aggie entrepreneurs bring their dreams to life.

Draggieland will be held in Rudder Theatre on April 6, 2023. The event is a pageant-style show featuring drag queens and is being hosted by Mistress Isabelle Brooks from RuPaul’s Drag Race. This year, the theme of Draggieland is a nod to the spring season as well as the idea of letting the art of drag carve its own path: ‘We bloom.’Shawn Keene, Class of 2021, is the advocacy chair for Draggieland and has attended past shows.
