    NORTH HAVEN - A fire broke out in a commercial building Saturday on Sackett Point Road, forcing crews to briefly close the road, officials said. Firefighters responded at about 6 p.m. to the 400 block of Sackett Point Road for a reported structure fire, according to the North Haven Police Department. Police said the road initially was closed between State Street and Universal Drive, but was reopened at 8:30 p.m. "Please avoid the area," police said.

    EAST LYME — Amtrak passengers traveling between New Haven and Providence faced “lengthy delays” Saturday after a woman was fatally struck by a train in East Lyme, officials said. Traffic was halted at 4 p.m. when municipal officials in the New London area placed a hold on the tracks. Article continues below this adMichael K.     State police officials are urging drivers to stay alert on the road and slow down for disabled vehicles after three on-duty troopers were injured last week when their cruisers were struck by other cars. The three toppers suffered minor injuries and the crashes all resulted in damage to their vehicles, according to a Facebook post from the Connecticut State Police.
