NORWALK — A Connecticut woman facing dozens of animal cruelty charges has been arrested again in the city where she used to live, police said Friday. Sarah Smolak, 28, who lived in Norwalk until a few months ago, was charged in April by Winchester police with dozens of counts of animal cruelty in connection with her care of 27 dogs in that town. Those animals were seized from her Winsted home in March, officials said.

NORWALK — A firefighter was injured while rescuing pets inside an apartment building blaze on Grand Street Sunday night, an official said. None of the residents were hurt during the fire, but officials said several pets were removed by firefighters. One firefighter sustained a minor injury while removing one of the pets.

NEW LONDON — A one-time worker at a Stonington pizza restaurant is accused of making secret video recordings of eight female co-workers while they were using an employee restroom — and of shooting another secret video of a woman in her apartment in the next building, records show. Michael Arruda, 46, is facing 12 counts of voyeurism with malice, a felony carrying up to five years in prison, according to records in state Superior Court in New London.
