    A man who broke into a house and ransacked it while a family hid with their children upstairs has been jailed for four years. Blake Searle, of no fixed address, forced his way into the property in the Harrowby estate area of Grantham days before Christmas in 2024. The 21-year-old smashed his way into the house before going on what police said was a "rampage" leaving blood smeared on the walls and causing extensive damage.

    An 81-year-old cyclist has died nearly two weeks after a crash in Bridlington, police have confirmed. Ivan Armitage was involved in a crash with a Chevrolet Captiva SUV on the A165 Scarborough Road at the junction of Grindale Lane on 2 June. Humberside Police said he was being treated in hospital for serious injuries but died on Saturday. Mr Armitage's family are being supported by specially trained officers and have asked for privacy, the force added.
