A man was shot to death Friday afternoon in the East Oakland hills, authorities said. Authorities did not identify the man immediately but said he is believed to be in his 30s. He died at the scene. The killing is the 25th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. The shooting happened about 12:45 p.m. in the 8100 block of Fontaine Street, just south of Interstate 580, authorities said. Officers found the man down when they arrived. Police were working to determine a motive of the shooting.

CONCORD — Prosecutors have charged a man with more than one count of attempted murder after police said he tried to run from a traffic stop and pointed a gun at two officers last week, according to court records. Court documents show that Eric Foreman, 37, of Richmond, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, as well as two counts of assault on a peace officer; being a felon in possession of a gun; and carrying a loaded gun. The drama happened on April 3.

It all happened on Feb. 18, when Concord officers shot and killed 47-year-old Nathan Keesler, of Antioch. Police said that Keesler attacked his father at a home in the 1900 block of Natoma Boulevard.

Few details about the incident were available Wednesday morning, including whether the toddler was a boy or a girl. In a statement, Antioch police said they would share additional details as they became available. Officers were called to a residence on Clearbrook Road off Lone Tree Way about 6 p.m. after calls to the dispatch center that the shooting had occurred.
