Second Cruise Night Of The Season This Friday Evening

As always, it will be held in downtown Holden and runs from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. This event is not only for car and truck enthusiasts, but to anyone who would like to get out, enjoy the fresh air, and visit acquaintances they are sure to run into.

Michael Verto Hutchings, 68 of Riviera Beach, Florida, formerly of Holden, MO, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Trustbridge Hospice in West Palm Beach, FL. Mike was born Friday, December 7, 1957 in Harrisonville, MO and was the son of the late Donald Hutchings and the late Annetta Hancock. He attended grade school in Holden, Missouri and then moved to West Palm Beach, FL. In his thirties, he moved back to the Holden area and attended CMSU earning his Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2005.

The selection of a new Board Of Directors member, the election of officers, and discussion of present and future activities highlighted the Wednesday, May 21 H.O.P.E. meeting. Early in the meeting the board received presentations from individuals interested in serving on H.O.P.E.’s board. Each gave a brief personal background in addition to the reasons they wished to serve. After a discussion by board members, Tim Nash was selected to fill the one open position.

Billie Gene Barton, 51 of Holden, Missouri passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025 at St. Luke’s East Hospital. Billie was born June 24, 1973 in Clinton, Missouri to Bill and Carolyn (Daugherty) Barton. He was born with congenital heart disease and endured heart surgeries from birth. Billie was not expected to live to 18 years, but his life defied all odds. He enjoyed spending time with family and especially with his nieces and nephews. He had an exceptional memory of birthdates, anniversaries and such.

Linda was born July 25, 1947 in Raytown, Missouri the daughter of George B. and Edna L. (Bundren) Richardson. She was raised in Raytown, having graduated from Raytown South High School. On May 21, 1966, Linda Kay was united in marriage to Larry Eugene Brisbin in Grove, Oklahoma. The couple resided in Kansas City for several years prior to moving to Kingsville.

Commencement is set for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 18 at the high school gymnasium. Baccalaureate is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, also at the gymnasium.
