A bus service has been saved from the axe. The number 40 Monday to Friday Hanley-Newstead service - stopping at Stoke Station, Stoke, Mount Pleasant, Longton and Dresden - had been due to disappear from Monday, April 14 after D&G pulled the plug on the weekday route. But First Potteries has now agreed to run the service with funding from the £9.8 million Bus Service Improvement Plan.

A café is opening every day - from Monday. The Cake Shack is in the grounds of Cudmore Fisheries, in Whitmore. The new opening hours come into force from Monday, April 14. It comes as a Mr Whippy machine has been installed. In a social media post to visitors, the Pleck Lane venue stated: "We will be open seven days a week from 9.30am all the way through to 6pm everyday from 14 April until the end of summer.

Luxury restaurant Lunar is opening seven days a week. The venue - within World of Wedgwood, at Barlaston - is opening every day from Monday, April 14 and launching new menus too. The Wedgwood Drive venue will now be open for breakfast and light lunches on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays; for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; and for Sunday lunch.

Two new bus services are hitting the streets of Stoke-on-Trent - from Monday. The number 27 will serve Dividy Road, Beverley Drive, Meir Hay and Longton and provide a direct link between Bentilee and Longton for the first time in years. The number 96 will serve Newchapel, Packmoor, Tunstall and Middleport. It is more than 10 years since public transport has operated in the heart of Middleport. The new services have been funded through the council's bus service improvement plan.
