A senior government Minister has said a Yorkshire councillor "sounds crackers" after he quit the Labour party and claimed Keir Starmer was the "worst Prime Minister of my lifetime". On a visit to Leeds, Health Secretary Wes Streeting hit back at the claims made by Michael Graham, who recently stood down from his cabinet position on Labour-run Wakefield Council.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting has said "there is something really special about Leeds" as he tries to reassure city leaders worried his planned shake-up of the NHS will damage its status as a hotspot for health expertise. On a visit to Leeds the senior Labour Minister insisted the plans to abolish NHS England - which has a major base in the city - would not affect its position as the country's second headquarters for its national health services.
