JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Nearly one year since the Rise Doro apartments in downtown Jacksonville caught fire, a new investigative report was released on Monday and said there’s no conclusive evidence to show a specific cause. While the cause is undetermined, the project manager believed the fire was caused by an electrical problem, according to the report.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Duval County Public Schools staff could be held to a new standard on social media with a new policy aimed at “protecting students.” However, some parents are concerned the policy only applies to employees, while school board members are not held accountable. “To me, it’s having an environment that’s welcoming and comforting is so important for our students because they come to school with all these expectations placed on them,” Mandy Rubin, a mother of two, said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The City of Jacksonville is working on a contract with Trinity Rescue Mission to bring nearly four dozen new beds online downtown for those facing homelessness. The shelter will be the first to add capacity as the city is cracking down on a statewide public camping ban. The goal is to keep those individuals out of jail and get them the help they need.
