When the Getty launched its first Pacific Standard Time event in 2011, it was billed as one of the biggest museum collaborations ever. The institution poured $10 million into the program, which focused on post-war art in Southern California and included exhibits at more than 60 museums from Santa Barbara to San Diego. The event was such a success that the Getty put together another one six years later — Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, an in-depth look at Latin American and Latino art in Los Angeles.

OPENS JUNE 29YVES SAINT LAURENT: LINE AND EXPRESSION In creating his fashion designs, French couturier Yves Saint Laurent created hundreds of sketches. He drew with pencil on paper, capturing his choices of material and reflecting the colors of his surroundings, often while visiting Marrakech, Morocco. The exhibit, organized by the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech and Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris, displays the thought process of a fashion icon.

OPENS JUNE 20“KENTON NELSON”San Clemente resident Kenton Nelson is known for his oil paintings depicting life in California. His portraits and landscapes are bathed in light and harken back to American Scene painting and the work of WPA artists of the 1930s. A native of Los Angeles, Nelson attended Otis Parsons Art Institute; his work has been featured on the cover of The New Yorker seven times.
