    Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 1Waterford 1-13Kildare 2-7The Kildare ladies have lost their opening game of Division 1 to Waterford. On a wet and dreary day, the Manguard Park pitch was at times as stodgy as the football on it. It was a stop-start affair with Kildare showing brief flashes of their signature free-flowing football. The visitors took their chances well and managed the poor conditions with Kellyann Hogan ever reliable from set-pieces on the day.

The loss sends Kildare into a relegation final against Laois to try and retain their Senior status. Kildare trailed by one with five to go and their momentum was stunted by a seemingly innocuous clash between Lara Gilbert and a Donegal player.

O’Hora’s native county were beaten by Leinster and All Ireland champions, Dublin 1-10 to 0-5 in Parnell Park on Sunday last.
