The modern GAA calendar leaves little time for reflection and maybe that fact might serve to benefit Kildare following Division 3 final disappointment. They are straight back on the horse with their Leinster Championship opener against Westmeath this Saturday at 7pm in Cedral St Conleth’s Park. Speaking at the launch of the Leinster Football Championship, Kildare captain Kevin Feely said that the difference players have felt following the St Conleth’s redevelopment has even surprised him.

No. 1 ambition successfully completed and while in the end there was much disappointment losing out to Offaly in the Allianz Football League Division 3 final nevertheless being promoted was the aim and everything after that will, hopefully, be a bonus. We cannot forget this is a Kildare team with a lot of young faces, young lads now going into the Leinster Championship on Saturday for the first time.

Kildare 1-24Wexford 1-12Kildare beat Wexford to move themselves into the semi-final stage of this year’s Leinster U20 Football Championship. It was far from convincing in the early stages and, after a Fintan Quinn opener, Wexford were first to hit the net. A free-kick from goalkeeper William Foley dropped short and was punched back across goal to Tom Funge, who put the finishing touch on the sequence.
