The Northern Lights were visible across Ireland last night, with many people sharing photos of the atmospheric phenomenon on social media. A stunning display of pink and green illuminations lit up the night sky for parts of the country due to a 'Coronal Mass Ejection' from the Sun. Aurora displays occur when charged particles collide with gases in the Earth's atmosphere around the magnetic poles.

An 18-year-old who wrote a letter about her daily struggle with suspected endometriosis to Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald has said she "hasn't been able to be a teenager". Her letter was read out into the Dáil record this week with Taoiseach Micheál Martin acknowledging that further investment is needed to treat this condition, which affects up to one in ten women. Nikita Clarke was due to sit her Leaving Certificate this year.

Cards and flowers sit on now empty shelves in a drapery shop in Co Carlow that has served its community for 100 years. There is almost nothing left to buy, but customers still pop in and out for a chat, a cup of tea and to say thank you. Arnold Mahon took over PJ Duffy's of Mill Street in Tullow on 1 April 1968 and on 1 April 2025, he will close its doors for the last time. The 86-year-old man has spent six decades standing behind the shop’s counters, along with the staff he views as family.

The Ireland-Israel Alliance has described as shocking an incident in which a businessman who was visiting Dublin from Tel Aviv said he was spat at while dining with a colleague and verbally abused by a group. They say it was shocking incident of pure hatred and said they expected gardaí to follow it up. Tamir Ohayon, 26, from Tel Aviv, Israel, was visiting Dublin for a business conference. He said that nobody intervened during the "attack" and that they "chose not to care".
