Hot Springs Road will be reduced to single-lane alternating traffic from Monday to Thursday this summer as construction crews resurface the highway. The work is set to begin in June and will take place during the day to comply with the village’s noise bylaws. While work will stop on weekends and holidays in an effort to minimize the disruption on the busy route, travellers on weekdays are being told to expect delays of up to 20 minutes in the construction zone.

Hope students may have a couple more options come the fall. The University of the Fraser Valley is expected to restart programming at the Hope Centre in September, nearly one year after the death of a staff member forced the university to pause instruction. The Hope Centre has been open but not offering programs since the fall. Since then, staff have been available to answer questions, even though the university doesn’t know what programs will be offered in the future.

Harrison Hot Springs is hoping to build a splash park and a canoe and kayak launch. But the dreams are dependent on funding from the province.
