California-based hunter/jumper trainer Robert Sean Leckie has been temporarily suspended by the U.S. Center for SafeSport, effective April 4. Leckie, who runs Blue Ridge Farm in San Juan Capistrano, California, is accused of “allegations of misconduct,” and the temporary suspension includes a no-contact directive, meaning he cannot contact certain parties involved in the complaint against him. A spokesman for Leckie indicated the case involves a sexual harassment claim against the trainer.

Dressage is under an intense, critical spotlight at the moment, Fédération Equestre Internationale Dressage Director Ronan Murphy acknowledged on the first day of the annual FEI Sports Forum in Lausanne, Switzerland. Members of the new FEI Dressage Strategic Action Plan working group, who presented their work publicly for the first time Monday, said they are considering a number of reforms but are not making any formal recommendations yet.

Para-dressage rider Fiona Howard had only one thing on her mind as she and Diamond Dunes trotted down their final centerline Sunday, moments before setting a new world record with their freestyle: staying on. The rubber band that keeps her right foot secured to the stirrup had snapped, taking away her base of support. “I was like, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to do this.’ My right leg was doing its own thing and basically flying around,” Howard said.

Jenny Spain admits she’s always been one to look toward the future, and she has trouble living in the present moment. But last autumn, the amateur dressage rider allowed herself to celebrate a huge accomplishment when she earned her U.S. Dressage Federation gold medal on her self-made off-the-track Thoroughbred Some Caan Job. Spain, Catlett, Virginia, had trained her now-retired OTTB Turnaround Tony to Grand Prix in 2017, but she had yet to earn her gold medal.
