Do you know where your rain jacket is? A low pressure system moving into the region Friday will cool daytime high temperatures as much as 10-15 degrees below average and douse the region with rain through Saturday. The National Weather Service warns that thunderstorms are possible Friday with the highest chance between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., while daytime heating is at its peak. Any thunderstorms that develop could produce heavy downpours, gusty winds, small hail, and lightning.

Residents in the metro area, especially on the west side, will wake to gloomy clouds Wednesday, some of which may drop light rain through the morning hours. The National Weather Service says we’ll only see minimal rain amounts Wednesday as a front progresses inland. The coast should see 0.05-0.10 inches, and the Portland/Vancouver area only a trace to 0.05 inches. Other locations in the Willamette Valley will stay mostly dry. Portland’s best chances of showers are before the noon hour.

People who thought summer came in too hot, and too fast earlier this month may be gratified by the upcoming week where average, and even below average, temperatures are likely, and rain is all but certain to show up before the weekend is finished. Portland is looking at a mostly sunny Monday with high temperature reaching about 77 degrees. But the National Weather Service is watching the first of two systems set to bring rain into Oregon beginning Monday night.
