    On May 4, 2024, the day Margie Jurkuta’s 15-year-old son Carter went into cardiac arrest, she beat the ambulance to the hospital.     A family that has called Powhatan home for generations is working to recover this week after a raging fire destroyed a significant portion of their beloved local farm supply business on Buckingham Rd.Gene and Pat Hertzler, who have operated Hertzler Farm and Feed from their Powhatan farm since 1983, were at home around 7 p.m. last Saturday night when they were alerted that smoke was coming from one of the buildings on the property.
